Fernando Alonso’s stunning victory at the European Grand Prix last time out underlined the fact that Ferrari are back as a force to be reckoned with at the moment as the Spaniard because the first double winner of this remarkable 2012 season and established a solid 20 point lead over 2nd place man Lewis Hamilton.
The sport now heads on to Silverstone for the ninth round of the championship; a circuit which hosted the first ever Formula One race in 1950 and still the host of the British Grand Prix to this very day. However, one thing which is not commonly known is that Silverstone has shared the title for the British Grand Prix with three other venues over the years.
Ferrari has been the most successful manufacturer at the event, winning it on fifteen occasions most recently with Alonso in damp conditions last year. The Italian manufacturer also took its first ever F1 win at the venue back in 1951 with Argentine Jose Froilan Gonzalez at the wheel.
