Obviously hyper cars are not flame proofed and quite a lot of them catch fire in a certain moment. This happened with a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster during a media presentation at Phillip Island race track in Victoria, Australia. Of course, the moment is just right, because most of the fails happen during press events, when there are a lot of people and journalists.
The convertible hyper car did a considerable number of laps without any incidents but at one point smoke and flames appeared behind the cabin during the final hours of the test day. The incident occurred while Top Gear Australia editor Tim Keen was behind the wheel and was promptly asked to stop the car and get out as soon as possible.
It is believed the fire was caused by an oil leak, for which Lamborghini’s head of south-east Asia and Pacific, Sebastien Henry commented: “the issue was accidental due to the vehicle’s extended track use in a high-temperature environment.“
