Passion, speed, elegance. And, of course, wind. The kind that fills sails and ruffles hair at the wheel of a sports car. No surprise therefore that a California T and a 458 Spider were on hand to lend an extra touch of sophistication and dynamism to the 5th Corsica Classic 2014, the regatta for classic and Spirit of Tradition yachts held along the island’s coast each summer.
While the fleet did battle over seven stages that took it all the way from Calvi to Bonifacio, a select group of journalists test-drove the two Maranello V8s on the roads between Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio. The route brilliantly showcased the two models’ talents, delivering an exhilarating drive along the Roccapina coast and L’Ospedale’s 15 kilometres of mountain roads which are also used in the Corsica Rally.
Once they finished putting the California T and 458 Spider through their paces, Ferrari’s guests enjoyed some well-deserved downtime at the Club House at the Golf Club dello Sperone, which enjoys a reputation as one of the most beautiful in the world. As tradition is one of the Prancing Horse’s core values, the Corsica Classic organisers also invited the group to enjoy a thrilling sail about Oiseau de Feu, an historic sailing yacht designed by Charles E. Nicholson in 1937.
